My lil stinker and monkey

Halloween has come and gone ... trick-or-treating went well. Dierky was tired and grouchy before we started, but Denver was quite excited. We visited with friends and family first (have to show of the cute boys!) and then we headed to my mum's neighbourhood to go door to door. Denver really was having a good time and kept saying "One more house" after each house ... he didn't want to stop!! He was very well mannered and said "Trick or Treat" and "Thankyou" at each house, where as Dierky just grabbed the loot and wanted to eat it right there on the peoples doorsteps! LOL!
So after a tiring walk we headed home and put the boys to bed ... Dierky slept in until a little after 9am this morning!
So, I wasn't able to get actual pictures of the boys trick-or-treating, but here they are at home in their costumes.

Mother Nature's Cruel Joke

Yesterday we woke up to snow everywhere .... crazy .... I mean it's still October - what kind of a sick joke is Mother Nature playing on us?
The weather is supposed to get nicer though - high of 14 degrees tomorrow. Should be great for trick-or-treating. Denver is going out as a Monkey - complete with a 'Nana' in his pocket and little Dierk is going to be a skunk - quite fitting for my little stinker!! I do have to say though, that I think Daddy is more excited that he actually gets to go out with his boys this year than his boys are about the whole Halloween thing! Ollie is off to a Halloween Party for the night ... I am still trying to convince him to dress up - I guess he figures he is scary enough without a costume!
Ollie's hockey season started a few weeks ago. This year he is playing forward, he gave up his goalie pads near the end of last season (much less stressful for me). I have taken a few videos of him in action, but will have to figure out how to upload them to here (if at all possible).
Really, not much else going on here ...
Check back in a few days for the kids Halloween pics!

Fall leaves

Well Thanksgiving weekend is over ... it was great having 3 days off with Ron home to enjoy it with us. The weather was (and still is) fantastic ... Dinner was great ... Pumpkin pie was yummy ... all was good!!!

Yesterday Ron made a huge pile of leaves with his leaf blower (lazy man's rake) for the boys to play in ... here's some photos of the boys playing.

Fall is here ...

I have really been trying to get this blog thing going, just haven't got it quite how I want it yet, but figured I would just keep posting ... that's what it is all about anyways!

So we have been busy cleaning up the place ready for winter (why does spring and fall always mean so much work?!?). Having a new pool we had to learn how to winterize it ... hopefully next year will be even easier! Wood is cut, piled and ready to burn. Patio furniture has been put away. Gardens have been de-flowered (is that a word) and are looking better. Only thing left to do is put the trampoline away, but the kids are still enjoying it.

All the outdoor bugs are coming inside (yuck!) the house is full of flies, spiders and this ... a nasty looking stick insect. The kids were quite fascinated by him.

On Saturday we went to the pumpkin patch to pick out our pumpkins .... Denver and Dierk had a great time, but I think it was a little boring for poor Ollie. Denver really was hoping to get a 'wart' pumpkin ... they were ugly and after a little convincing he was happy to get the perfect orange ones!

Here are some pics of our day ...
Dierky would not sit still!
Ollie ... looking a little bored! LOL!

Trying to get this Blog going ...

Darn .... this is pretty tricky. I can't seem to figure it out ... I don't know if it's because I am trying to do half a dozen things at once or what!?!
Oh Sherry ... come back from your cruise and help me out would you!!!
